Chad Harp Lived in Japan

Many people in the United States never spend any extended periods of time overseas. It's an unfortunate reality in America. Many other countries have populations that are much more global than the US, meaning that they speak and understand more languages and gain much more perspective from international travel. They also have a stronger understanding of how vast and complex the world is.

For his part, Chad Harp lived in Tokyo from 2004 to 2005. During that time, he worked at the NOVA international school in the city. The school is no longer in business, but during its time it catered to talented English students, as well as businessmen who needed to improve their English skills to advance in their careers. Chad Harp thoroughly enjoyed his time working with NOVA and was able to learn a great deal about teaching and its importance in the context of international language acquisition.

In addition to teaching English at NOVA, Chad Harp spent a lot of his time studying and using the Japanese language. For languages that are very different from English, it's important to immerse oneself in the language. It makes it easier on the brain to pick up and remember the language and grammar. Chad Harp spent a lot of time studying Japanese and it paid off; he became relatively proficient at using the language.

Living in Japan also gave Chad Harp the opportunity to explore Tokyo and the rest of the country and its many historical areas. There are also a lot of natural attractions and temples spread throughout the wilderness. Going to see Mount Fuji up close was one of the most impressive parts of the Japanese landscape that Chad Harp was able to see during his time in the country. He hopes to return one day.
